The fact that my boyfriend and I have dropped into this cafe 3 times this week is saying something. We initially were just walking down the street looking for a place to eat and I saw this unassuming little restaurant that looked good enough. All 3 times we've been seated immediately (and always at the same table somehow lol). The food is consistently good and I would suggest NOT sleeping on their pho! The broth is fantastic, but it's a mighty portion and we unfortunately don't have a microwave in the hotel room so I was sad for what I had to waste. The banh mis are super tasty and their breakfast food is solid. Highly recommend anything with the italian sausage in it.
On top of all that, the servers are really friendly. They all share duties hosting and serving and I didn't meet a single one that didn't seem happy to see us. We became somewhat familiar faces and the last couple visits they sent out complimentary fruit plates. :) I am actually gonna kind of miss this place when I go back to Texas, but hopefully this review pushes someone else in their direction. -

We were starving to death in a touristy area of Sanfrancisco with nowhere to eat. We walked several blocks before deciding on Darren's Cafe.
It wasn't half bad. Nothing to write home about but not bad. I had the Veggie Vermicelli bowl and my partner had his with shrimp. His was better than mine but they were both just okay.
Cute restaurant. Not much going on in here. Waitress was so cute and friendly. Food was quick. My can of Coke was well needed.
We left not feeling gross after our meal. -

I gave this place five stars because it's the perfect place to get fast, friendly, simple but good breakfasts. Not to mention the price is very reasonable and they are giving you a great amount. Our server was a young asian lady who was very kind and explained the menu to us.
If you're in a rush to catch a flight or go sight seeing, I would recommend this place. -

Came here at 1pm on Sunday afternoon with a friend since he was craving Vietnamese food and I was craving breakfast food. Darren's Cafe turned out to be the PERFECT fit. With a variety of breakfast and lunch items, Darren's cafe has an extensive menu fit for every mood you're in.
FOOD: Coming from Hawaii, rice is a staple for me. I ordered the corned beef hash, eggs, and rice (instead of potatoes) and I was brought back to my favorite breakfast spot at home. The portion was large for an extremely reasonable price within Fisherman's Wharf. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the corned beef was just slightly crispy, the way I like it. My friend ordered the Spicy Satay Beef Combo Noodle soup and said he "can never eat normal pho again" because of how good his meal was. I had a bite and it was one of the best bites of soup I've had in SF.
SERVICE: I had many requests for our server from asking for soy sauce to using our check-in gift (free fruit). Yet, our server didn't hesitate and always answered my requests patiently.
Overall, I'm so glad we found Darren's Cafe. Even with all the options, they have mastered every element. If you're looking for a homey and reasonably priced meal in Fisherman's Wharf, Darren's Cafe is the way to go. -

This little place offers breakfast as well as authentic Vietnamese food. I checked in to get fresh fruit with my meal. I had the seafood scramble which was tasty. Service was great and food arrived quickly. Coffee refills were plentiful and they remembered my cream
